Introducing San Francisco Chiropractor Dr. Ross Graham
Enter our North Beach, Embaradero and Financial District area chiropractic practice and you'd never know that at age 20 I was suffering and afraid because of an injury that left me with severe pain and tingling which traveled from my lower back down to my foot. My problem, which would respond to neither medical nor alternative care, was subsequently (and dramatically) helped by chiropractic care.
That personal experience gave me my passion for chiropractic. I have a strong desire to help people through natural means. I was inspired by my chiropractor, who not only helped relieve my suffering, but also encouraged me to take the big leap from being a massage therapist and nutritionist to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. I could see his passion for and advocacy of his healing art.
I was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada (just north of Fargo, North Dakota). At 19 years old I started working as a massage therapist/nutritionist at the Prairie Health Clinic in Barnwell, Alberta. I was amazed to see how many health problems were not responsive to medical treatment.
I received my pre-med requirements from the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Anatomy, nutrition, and exercise physiology held special interest for me. The judo class and club were favorites, and balanced my academic classes, especially since the Sensi was Canada's Olympic coach and his Olympic team practiced there. In 1989 I completed my chiropractic doctorate from Life Chiropractic College-West, right here in the Bay Area. I chose Life College because of its reputation for being focused on the technique and philosophy of chiropractic. I spent my first two years in practice in Taber, Alberta, with a chiropractor who encouraged and inspired me. I then moved back to the San Francisco Bay area and practiced on the border of Oakland and Piedmont for 13 years.
The San Francisco Bay Area is a great place to live and offers a multitude of exciting activities. I especially enjoy hiking, trail running, singing, and dancing. It is also a great place to raise a family. Spending time with my wife Michelle, son Gavin, and daughter Jackie brings great joy to my life.
My purpose is to bring more energy, greater balance, and a better quality of health to all individuals, using a variety of techniques. I seek to give each person tools that fit his or her lifestyle – tools that empower and produce good health. In certain instances, I do video analysis of a person’s gait or sport to detect long-term problems. I keep current in postgraduate studies. I am a past Qualified Medical Examiner and board-eligible for Diplomat of Chiropractic Orthopedics. In April 2008 I will begin studies to complete a Diplomat of Chiropractic Pediatrics and Pregnancy.
I personally receive regular chiropractic wellness care and will continue to do so throughout my life. I get great energy and balance from wellness care, and am continually surprised with the results I get beyond resolving muscular aches and pains. The abuse and over-utilization of pain medications is at an epidemic level in our society. I want to help people see there are other, more natural and healthy options. I exercise on a regular basis with cross-training, including yoga and Pilates. I eat a very balanced diet. I practice what I preach. Be assured I include any holistic health advice I give to you in my own life.
Enough about me! How can we help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
